Your logo is the face of your online presence. An eye-catching logo that reflects who you are can help 'brand' your online identity, making you more memorable when people first meet you, and more recognizable to those who have met you online before.

The effective use of color is one of the most important aspects of any successful website. Tell me if you have any colors you'd like me to use!

Avatars are like an online business card. Almost every online networking account you have (such as MySpace, WordPress, Blogger, etc. as well as thousands of forums) offers the option of automatically attaching your avatar to every post or comment you make.

A well-designed avatar will encourage others to click on it, follow it to your profile on that forum/blog/etc, and then visit your website!

Don't have a logo to use on it yet? I'll design one for you!

Business Cards can be designed to fit the vertical profile or the traditional horizontal profile, using either your existing logo or a new one.

Would you like to take advantage of the frequent deals that VistaPrint advertises, offering 250 free business cards? No problem! I design business cards to fit their specifications, so all you'll need to do is create an account there and upload the image I'll give you! (I can help you find current sales, too.)

Tell me which style of business card you'd like!

You'll receive 'proof' mockups before your site and/or graphic is fully designed. This way, we can work together to make sure you are pleased with the final result!

Banners can be designed in any of the standard sizes, as well as any custom size you may need. Tell me what you'd like yours to say!

It was 1995 and I'd recently gotten married, when my computer-engineer father first suggested that I try out this new Internet-thing.

I wasn't interested

Looking back, I find this quite funny, as the Internet has become a major part of my life. I keep in contact with friends and family over the Internet, I make money over the Internet, I pay bank on the Internet, I have fun on the Internet, I get news and weather information over the Internet, I use the Internet to homeschool my children... and the list goes on. All I can say is that I must have just been too preoccupied with my new husband and even newer pregnancy to care about much else.

It didn't take long for that to change. I discovered GeoCities' free home pages and set about building my first web site. They had a very, very basic editor, and I was soon switching to the "Advanced" mode so I could tear apart the code. I went searching other webpages and viewing their source code to learn more HTML. That was your only option, back then. There wasn't Frontpage. Dreamweaver hadn't yet been dreamed of. (Well, maybe it had. I don't know.) There weren't even very many HTML tutorial sites. So it was a good thing that I'm a teach-myself type-of-person.

By 1999, I was ready to start my own business on the Internet, so KatieDid Design was born. The name came from the 3x5 cards that my mom used to fill with notes on "what Katie did" to send to my grandmother when I was a little girl... so the name just seemed natural for my business.

At first, I was offering custom floral treatments. That very quickly morphed into custom window treatments and bedding (I prefer fabric and textiles to silk florals), and for six years I grew that business... still keeping abreast of HTML and design standards so I could design my own web sites, as well as those that friends, family, churches, etc, asked me to do on the side.

But finally, I got burned out on sewing window treatments. I couldn't find anyone else I trusted to cut out the expensive fabrics, and I was tired of sewing miles of boring seams. So I laid that aside.

But I never quite was able to quit designing websites.

So here I am today. KatieDid Design still exists, but I now focus on digital colors and patterns and textures. I work with the world's best host for those clients who prefer me to do their website maintanence for them. And I'm loving every minute of it.
